Last night, my toddler and I were getting in our building elevator. This sweet teenage girl we see all the time got in with us. She was holding a box of flowers and was on the phone with a friend. She was gushing and giddy. "Nobody has ever done something this sweet for me! No boy has ever sent me flowers before!"
The look on her face was priceless. Don't you remember that feeling? You don't get that feeling often. It's that pure, innocent and totally transparent feeling of joy. Someone likes you. You like him. He sends you flowers. Could there ever be a more perfect man?
She'll forget about him in 6 months but, for now, he is perfection. And to think he probably bought a Groupon deal and got those flowers for $15 but the point is...he did it. For that brief moment, he made her feel like there is no one in the universe like her. Good job, guy!
I told her to enjoy it. Other men will give her flowers. If she's lucky, she'll marry a man like my husband who brings me flowers. BUT, it will NEVER be the same. It just won't.
This blog will chronicle my journey through motherhood. Like other creative, fiesty, smart and resourceful women, I want to show that just because we're moms, that doesn't mean we have to give up being fun or entrepreneurial. It also doesn't mean we have to give up looking beautiful or wearing heels! So grab your Kate Spade diaper bag, highest pair of Manolo's and join me on this ride!

Tweaking Rules

Happy New Year! Regardless of your child rearing beliefs, I think any mom would find my first Georgetown Patch Urban Parenting article of 2012 funny.
We all have ideas about how we want to raise our children but the reality is that sometimes life throws you curve balls. Curve balls aren't necessarily bad, they just force you to "tweak" your ideas a little. Then again, isn't life all about tweaking?
